Something I Have Always Known

I was a unicorn even before I knew what a unicorn was.

I have been making art my entire life. Painting. Creating. Expressing the inexpressible — the things that live too deep for words, too wild for ordinary containers. And somewhere along the way, the sacred feminine found me. Or maybe I found her. Or maybe we were always the same thing, spiraling toward each other across lifetimes.

What I know is this: art saved me. Not metaphorically. Literally. When I came to a workshop with trauma that talk therapy couldn’t move, something happened. Paint met canvas. Energy became form. A sacred feminine image rose up from the depths — and something in me that had been locked open wide.

That was the beginning of everything. And now those paintings — those medicine paintings born from years of sacred feminine practice — are available for you to wear.

These Are Not Ordinary Prints

This is the Stardust Unicorn Sanctuary wearable art studio, where original paintings become magic you can actually wear.

I’m Ashley Stardust Unicorn — Creative Play Artist, Certified Intentional Creativity® Guide, Teacher, and Cura. And what I do here is transmogrify my original sacred feminine medicine paintings into all-over-print clothing that carries the soul of the painting it came from.

No clipart. No AI. No stock imagery. Just original art, living on your body instead of a wall.

These are Wearable Paintings — and there is a difference. Every garment is composed the way a painting is composed: color placement, flow across the fabric, the way a sleeve continues the story that the back panel began. Intentional. Considered. Singular. You will not find these designs anywhere else in this universe. 🌟

Each painting is energy transmogrified into form. Each one carries an intention, an archetype, a frequency — the sacred feminine in her many expressions: as healer, as wildness, as power, as vulnerability, as transformation.

Above all else, The Way of the Unicorn means: BE KIND. To Mother Earth. To each other. To yourself. To every living thing sharing this wild, beautiful planet with us. Kindness is the thread running through every single thing I create. 🌍

With Love at the Center of All Choices, The Way of the Unicorn is based on kindness, inclusivity, respect, compassion, and LOVE — in the spirit of Mr. Rogers, Sesame Street, and Pee-Wee’s Playhouse. We celebrate and protect ALL HUMANs here, no matter where they come from, what they look like, what they believe, what bodies they are in, how they choose to identify, or whom they choose to Love.

Cura-Cura — The Healer Who Sees

Two divine feminine figures meet spiraling cycles of transformation. Green life force flows through awakened consciousness. Pink hearts bloom as flowers of divine compassion. When you wear Cura-Cura, you activate the healer within yourself. You become the witness, the holder of sacred space, the one who sees others into wholeness. Spiral into your own healing. Bloom. Shine.

Where My Wild Heart Roams — The Fearless Wild Thing Reclaimed

This is the sacred feminine who roams through the elephant’s wisdom, the tiger’s fearlessness, the green girl’s refusal to apologize. She flows through all wild things. When you wear Where My Wild Heart Roams, you give yourself permission to be untamed — in all your forms. You are fearless. You are uncompromising. You are the wild thing reclaimed — and you are more beautiful for it.

The Muse — The Creative Spark Awakened

This is the divine feminine touched by creative grace — ecstatic, flowing, infinite. She knows that creativity is not something you find; it’s something you are. When you wear The Muse, you give yourself permission to create wildly, freely, without apology. Stars light your path. Your hair flows with inspiration. You are the muse. You are the art. You are the creative force made visible.

A Little About Me

I am Ashley Stardust Unicorn — Guardian of Unicorns & All Wild Things. A lifelong thespian, NYC Meisner-trained. A Founding Member of the Jewel Box Theater in Hollywood, CA. A Universal Life Church minister. A “BE KIND!” Ambassador. The creator of Stardust Unicorn Sanctuary, Stardust Unicorn’s Playhouse for Creative Wild Things, and The Way of the Unicorn.

I have been many things. I am all of them at once.

95% of my paintings are sacred feminine energy made visible. I believe that talk therapy and creating with intention are a perfect pairing for total healing — one gives language to what the mind holds, the other gives form to what the body knows. Together, they reach the whole of you.

I am an embodied sanctuary. When you are in my world — in my paintings, in my Creative Play space, in this community — something in you relaxes. You remember you are free to breathe here. To be fully, unapologetically yourself. I don’t fix or direct. I shine a light on the path so that you can see what you already know: that you are the primary agent in your own rescue. You were never lost. You just needed someone to hold the light.✨

Happy Juneteenth to all my Black family, friends, and chosen family. Today I’m celebrating you — your freedom, your resilience, and the beauty you bring into this world every single day. 💜🌈🌟🦄💚

A few days ago, I asked my Black Beloveds a question. I had read something online that stopped me in my tracks: “I don’t celebrate Juneteenth because I’ve heard Black Americans saying whites need to stay out of the celebration, because it’s about Black Freedom.” I wanted to know — is that true? Is that the sentiment? And if so, what is the best way for me to honor this day, giving it and the Black community the respect that they so very much deserve.

My beautiful Soul SiSTAR, Naa Kwarley, answered. Not with a quick take, but with her whole heart — unfiltered, honest, and generous in a way that asked something real of me. I am endlessly grateful for her sisterhood, and for trusting me enough to share her true heart so openly. That kind of honesty is a gift, and I don’t take it lightly. With her permission, here is what she told me, exactly as she wrote it:

“I believe that any Black person who might have said that and/or feels that way is because we are just SO fucking tired of non-Black people taking EVERYTHING from us. Our culture. Our traditions. Our spirituality. Our style. Our flex. Our swag. Our very fucking lives.... Just the other day, I was scrolling FB and watching reels. The number of white people on there dancing to Black music, making dance moves that are entrenched in the Black community, and just generally doing what Black folks are known for made me just shake my head and think: ‘They hate us so much, to the point of murdering us (and getting away with it), yet here they are on screen doing what we do. They say our music is trash, excites violence, promotes drugs/elicit sex/gang banging, yet look at all of them dancing to our music and doing what we popularized. Can we not have ANYTHING that is ours???’ I think this is where the sentiment of white folk not celebrating Juneteenth is coming from. They always taking our stuff...”

“BUT — here’s my personal take on white people celebrating Juneteenth. If you are celebrating WITH us AND celebrating our FREEDOM, then come on over to the cook out! If you are a TRUE ally and not afraid to be public about your support of Black people and the condition this world has us in, come on over to the cook out. If you are not afraid to stand with us publicly, to use your voice and your platforms in our defense and to spread the knowledge of what is still being done to us 161 years after we were supposedly freed, come on over to the cook out. If you understand that Abraham Lincoln was no hero who abolished slavery — that he simply did it to solve a problem for WHITE people, that he did it in such a way that slavery was still possible, that he did it in such a way that made it impossible to survive unless we stayed on the plantations and continued working the fields, then come on over to the cook out. If in your heart you AUTHENTICALLY stand with Black people as a FULL ALLY and really would do anything in your power to fix the plight of Black people — especially in Amerikkka — but all around the world, then come on over to the cook out.”

“It is a matter of appropriation vs appreciation... Are you celebrating Juneteenth because you genuinely care, genuinely want to help, genuinely standing in the gap for us and with us? Or are you celebrating Juneteenth because it’s a day off work and an opportunity to have your own cookout?”

“I celebrate Juneteenth (obviously) because that was the day that Black folk could finally raise their head and be publicly proud of the beautiful color of their skin. Because that was the day we could PUBLICLY start fighting back, fighting for our freedom, fighting for our civil and human rights. BUT — I do not celebrate July 4th. Not my independence day! We weren’t free on July 4, 1776. We weren’t free on July 4, 1865 (even though Lincoln said we were). And we aren’t free on July 4, 2026... This country was built on the backs of my Black Ancestors and we still are not acknowledged, thanked, or appreciated for what Black people did for this country. Why celebrate its independence when it’s clear that our contributions to this country are nowhere in sight during this celebration? We are no more than a pestilence in this country to some people — the very people who brought this Black plague to this land and still are trying to exterminate the ‘problem’.”

Every single thing she names as the criteria for coming to the cookout — I believe in those things with my whole heart. Not performatively. Not because it’s a day off work. Genuinely, always, in the gap, with her and with all of my Black Beloveds. First and foremost, I hold space for the fact that a true atrocity was perpetrated against Black people in this country — and against our Indigenous First Nations relatives too — one this country has never fully reckoned with or repaired. Because biologically we are all one race, the human race, and we all spring from Mitochondrial Eve and it is ludicrous that anyone should be treated any differently no matter where they are from or what color they are or anything else that makes up our beautiful, diverse, preposterous existence.

It’s a matter of appropriation versus appreciation. It’s a matter of showing up publicly, not just privately. It’s a matter of asking myself, honestly: am I doing this because I care, or because it’s a day off of work?

My Gig-Sister, XTC also left a comment on my original post that I think belongs here too, because it turns reflection into action. Some simple, doable things we as white people can actually do:

• Send kind messages to your Black friends.

• Spend money at Black-owned businesses.

• Take your Black friends out, if they’re open to it.

• Spend time actually learning what anti-racist work looks like.

• Talk to your fellow white people about what is still happening right now.

That last one matters most to me. It’s easy to nod along in agreement with the people who already understand. It’s harder — and far more necessary — to bring this conversation to the people who don’t.

So today, I’m not just celebrating. I’m recommitting. To showing up beyond the cookout, beyond the holiday, beyond the day off. To being the kind of ally Naa Kwarley described — not because it’s asked of me, but because it’s who I am and I want to be better at it.

The conversation about AI keeps getting flattened into a false choice: either you are alarmed by the harm, or you are excited by the benefit. Either you condemn it outright, or you defend it. That framing is making the conversation worse.

People are angry, and they have every reason to be. They are angry about water use, energy demand, labor displacement, and the fact that communities are often forced to carry costs they did not choose so that someone else can enjoy the convenience. That anger is not irrational. It is morally coherent.

But the opposite mistake is just as corrosive: pretending AI offers nothing meaningful to ordinary people. It does. It is reducing the cost of help that used to be reserved for people with money, institutional knowledge, or professional access. Solo business owners are doing the work of a team. Caregivers are getting time and clarity they cannot get in a rushed medical system. Writers without gatekeepers, disabled people needing support, and first-generation students navigating opaque systems are gaining tools they did not have before. That matters.

This is the reality critics and enthusiasts alike often try to avoid: the harms are real, and the benefits are real, and they are not falling on the same people. Communities near data centers bear the environmental burden. Users elsewhere collect the gains. That is not just a technical issue or a market issue. It is a justice issue.

So no, the answer is not to pick a team.

The answer is to get more honest. Individual restraint is not the main solution. These systems operate whether or not any one person opts in. The bigger questions are about infrastructure, energy, siting, and regulation. If we want better outcomes, the target has to be policy, not just personal guilt.

We also need better comparisons. The real question is not whether AI is worse than doing nothing. The real question is what it replaces: driving, printing, hiring, or abandoning a task entirely. Sometimes AI is the lower-impact option. Sometimes it is not. Serious analysis starts there.

What this debate needs is not less anger. It needs better direction. Anger is often the clearest signal that something unjust is being normalized. The issue is not whether people should feel it. The issue is whether that feeling gets turned into pressure for structural change.

If we keep forcing this conversation into tribes, we will miss the truth in front of us: AI is producing real harm and real benefit at the same time. Pretending otherwise may be convenient, but it is not honest.

In the end, how we move through this moment is still a choice. We can retreat into suspicion and camps, or we can work together with honesty, restraint, and care for the people most affected by the systems we build. I still have faith that, if we are willing to stay clear-eyed and humane, goodness can prevail—not by accident, but by what we choose to protect, repair, and build together.

You are a miraculous creation of the Universe — perfectly made just as you are. You are sovereign unto yourself, the primary agent in your own rescue. You matter. Loving yourself is the key, and creativity in any form can unlock transformative self-love.

I discovered my “Way of the Unicorn” through the Intentional Creativity Path of Practice — and it has led me to the best version of myself yet❣️

I also share my first experience using Jane Davenport’s FridaMania Colour Wheel | Palm-sized, Jewel tones Layercake watermedia paint, and her Marzipan Crayon ColourStick | Jellybean brights! Creamy, high-pigment, water-soluble gel-crayons. I really enjoyed the smooth and creamy application of both products! I particularly love that the ColourSticks are like crayons that react to water, and that the Layercake watermedia paint is a cross between watercolor and acrylic, which, as the name implies, allows for layering colors in a way that watercolor paint does not. And, for the record, I don’t know Jane; nor did she pay me to say this, and I paid full price for her products. I simply love promoting fun products and art processes that I love!
